How to Declutter Your Home Fast – A Bag at a Time Does It
I’ve received numerous emails from subscribers sharing their various declutter issues and problems. I can relate to them because I’ve been there before.I’m having issues with decluttering because:
I can’t find time to declutter;
I don’t know where to start;
I am not quite sure how to declutter;
I tidy up and no sooner that I have finished decluttering, things are already disorganized;
I am finding problems finding a home each item;
I am naturally a messy person and I find it really hard to keep organized;
Other members of the family keep making a mess and this makes it difficult;
I’ve got duplicate items of lots of things;
I keep procrastinating and nothing seems to get done;
I start a task but never seem to be able to complete it;
I keep getting interrupted in the middle of my reorganization efforts;
Fill in the blank (if I’ve not covered above any of the issues you might be facing).
Or better still tweet at Debra @DeclutterTips and share your declutter issues and problems. We’ve all got them and it is kind of nice to unload by sharing your declutter issues!
A Simple Declutter Tip that Works Wonder
Today, I wanted to share with you a simple tip that will work wonders. But first, let me ask, what are your declutter goals? Now might be a good time to grab your notepad and make a list of declutter goals. I would start with listing 6 declutter goals. More than that, and you might overwhelm yourself.
Focus on One Declutter Goal
Take that one goal and work on it each day, till the goal is completed. You might be thinking “I would love to have my whole house decluttered.” But easy does it. To be honest, depending on how many years of stuff you’ve accumulated over the years, it’s going to take time to declutter. We’re possibly talking days, weeks, possibly even months, depending on the severity of the problem.
The best advice I can give is rather than thinking about the end goal of “My whole house should be decluttered”, think of tackling your decluttering in bite sized chunks. For example, if you’re tackling 1 particular room in your house, say your bedroom, then declutter one bag at a time each day, till you’re done.
One bag might be one bag of clothes that you would like to donate to the charity shop;
One bag of toys from the kid’s playroom that you are planning to give away to your family friend as she has kids of the right age who could do with a few well loved toys.
I hope today’s blog post will help get you motivated to start your decluttering. Remember, it’s as easy as 1 bag at a time. Before long, you’ll reach your end goal of decluttering each room, and ultimately, declutter your home completely.
