Home Organization Systems, Mindset, and Decluttering Your Home

There are a couple of main challenges that you can face when decluttering yor home. One issue is mindset and the ability to tackle tasks around the house. The other important issue is to have good home organization systems in place. This will sometimes make or break the difference between a well organized home, and one that is in a constant state of disarray.

Your Declutter Mindset is Important

One challenge that some of my readers have brought to my attention are problems of procrastination or overwhelm. These two issues are at the opposite end of the spectrum, and or sometimes may be one of the same problem.

With procrastination, you contemplate doing stuff but spend more time thinking about tackling the problem, than the actual doing part of the problem. Sound familiar? We all procrastinate from time to time. It’s a problem that can be overcome, if we push through to get past those feelings of resistance.

The other related issue is overwhelm. Time and time again my readers identify “overwhelm” as one of the major obstacles to decluttering their home.

Home Organization Binder

One way to combat overwhelm is to use home organization software and to create a trusty home organization binder. Your home organization binder can be created and customized to your requirements. Include in your files some file dividers to separate your different home organization projects on the go.

Your binder might include a big ongoing renovation project. It may include small projects that you’ve been meaning to tackle for some time. Jot down your projects. It’s good to get it out of your head and onto paper. That way, the thoughts of  “I should really start to reorganize that home office” won’t keep swirling around in your head.

The “How” of Reorganizing

You can them move on to think about the “how” of reorganizing your home office. Moving forward certainly beats the feelings of procrastination. Start to jot down the tasks associated with reorganizing your home office.

Your home organization binder may include a list of regular decluttering tasks that you do on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. If you need to hire some home organization help, that may be a good strategy for your household to get the house in order.

Having sound home organization systems in place is crucial to keeping your home well organized. It’s only natural that our homes will get messy from time to time. But if we good systems in place, we’ll be able to quickly and easily get our house back into order.

Home Organization Help – From Disaster to Successful Makeover

The door bell is ringing and someone is at your front door. “No way you say. It’s way too early for visitors to your house. Who on earth would possibly be visiting you at this ungodly hour?”.

Uppermost in your mind at this time of the morning is the disastrous state of your house. You’ve been thinking about getting some home organization help, but just haven’t got around to getting assistance. Your neighbor mentioned that they recently hired a few professional organizers to revamp their home, but it sounds like a costly option to you. But in the back of your mind, it is something that would be worthwhile investigating.

Here are four scenarios when you know its high time to call on the services of some suitable home organization companies.

Your Home is a Disaster Zone

Unfortunately, the word disaster zone comes to mind, when describing your home. You or your husband admit to being clutter bugs or hoarders, and it’s time to renewal your home by getting the experts in.

Minor Reorganization

Your home is well organized, and you and your family don’t have any trouble keeping it organized. However, you just feel that hiring a professional organizer would shed some light on ways to renew and re-energize the look of your home. You are looking for ways to improve the layout of a room, and its functionality.

It’s Time for a Major Makeover

You’re somewhat dissatisfied with the way your home looks, and you’ve got the budget for a major home makeover. You’re feeling excited about the possibilities of creating new space in your existing home.

It’s Time for a Mini Makeover

You’re just after a mini makeover of certain areas of your home, possibly the lounge room, and your home office. The services of a professional organizer could do the trick with helping to implement your mini makeover. You’ve got a few different home organization ideas in mind, but are not quite sure which way to go. So having some expert help would be ideal since you’re at crossroads.

The mini makeover would involve more work than the minor reorganization. With the minor reorganization, you’re looking to utilize existing furniture and fittings, and possibly throw out some old furniture that has had it’s day.

The mini makeover will involve buying some new furniture and fittings from your local homeware store. You can’t wait to reorganize and revitalize the space in your home.

You’ve opened the door, and your visitor has arrived. You have visualizations of your guest stepping in to admire your newly organized home.
